The following visualization presents the retention rates for Lehigh undergraduate students, as reported to the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS). Retention rates are displayed both in terms of historical first-year retention rates over time and for each entering cohort across their first three years at Lehigh. The retention rates can be further broken down by sex, race/ethnicity, financial aid category and first generation status.
Retention rates are calculated using the first-time, full-time undergraduate Fall cohorts. On the "Retention Rates by First-Year Cohort" tab, the first-year, second-year and third-year retention rate refers to the percentage of students who return the following Fall after completion of their first academic year, second academic and third academic year, respectively. Both second and third-year retention rates can be calculated with either the previous fall enrollment or the original first-year cohort as the base. Note that the retention count used for calculating the first-year, second-year and third-year retention rates includes students that graduate early (in year 2 or year 3). These students are not included the Total Active count for the following year since they have already been removed from the base population. Hover over the table to see the tooltip appear. The tooltip will contain details, specifically the counts used for each percentage calculation.
